Between 1 January 2026 and 1 September 2026, the month-start silver nisab ranged from £842.18 (August) to £1,368.67 (March). The gold nisab ranged from £8,435.40 (August) to £11,008.34 (March). Metal prices moved sharply this year, so a figure copied from another month can be hundreds of pounds out for silver and well over a thousand for gold. Always record the date and price you used. ## Which figure should I use for my Zakat? Use the price on your own Zakat date — the lunar anniversary of when your wealth first reached nisab — not the date you happen to pay. If your Zakat fell due in Ramadan or another earlier month, use a reliable price for that date rather than today’s. The month-start figures above are a guide; a dealer’s dated quote or the provider value for your exact date is better evidence. This site uses 612.36g silver and 87.48g gold. Another recognised convention uses 595g and 85g, which gives thresholds about 3% lower. Follow one coherent scholarly method rather than mixing weights from different calculators. ## Why do websites show different nisab figures? Differences usually come from the valuation date, the price source (spot, dealer buy or dealer sell), a premium added by some providers, currency conversion and the weight convention. A figure without a date cannot be checked. Every figure on this page shows its date, price per gram and weight, so you can reproduce it: 612.36 × silver price per gram = silver nisab. ## A checkable calculation Worked example · 1 September 2026 prices Silver nisab: 612.36g × £1.5782 = £966.43. Gold nisab: 87.48g × £105.1858 = £9,201.66. With £5,000 net eligible savings held for a lunar year, you are above the silver nisab, so Zakat is £5,000 × 2.5% = £125. Keep the unrounded threshold for the comparison and round only for display. ## Common questions ### What is the nisab in the UK today?
