Annual wealth Zakat, Zakat al-Fitr and other forms of religious giving have different bases and conditions. The 2.5% calculator on this site is for eligible cash and similar wealth; it is not a universal formula for agricultural produce, livestock or every payment associated with Ramadan.
Zakat on wealth
Cash, precious metals, investments and trading assets commonly form part of a wealth assessment. Identify ownership, permitted deductions, nisab and any applicable hawl before calculating the usual 2.5%.
Zakat al-Fitr
Fitrana is a separate Ramadan obligation assessed per qualifying person under the method followed. Food measures, cash equivalence and timing need their own guidance. It is not a percentage of savings and should not be subtracted from an unrelated annual wealth obligation.
Specialist asset categories
Agricultural produce, livestock, minerals and other specialised assets have rules that cannot be fully assessed by a general GBP savings calculator. Get suitable guidance for the asset and school you follow rather than applying 2.5% automatically.
Sadaqah, fidya and kaffarah
Sadaqah is voluntary giving. Fidya and kaffarah address specified obligations or violations and have their own conditions. A donation for one purpose does not automatically fulfil another. Our specialist feeding tools calculate only after you identify a relevant obligation and provider rate.
