If your Zakat fell due in Ramadan or another earlier month, use a reliable historical metal price for that date. Today’s price is not a substitute. Keep the historical price, currency and weight convention with your record. This page does not claim to publish a complete daily historical price series.
Why other websites show different numbers
Differences can arise from valuation dates, dealer spreads, currency conversion, metal purity and recognised nisab weight conventions. Some organisations use 85g gold or 595g silver. Compare methods and dates before assuming one calculator has made an arithmetic error.
A checkable calculation
With an illustrative price of £1.20 per fine gram of silver, 612.36 × £1.20 gives a threshold of £734.832. Internally, keep the unrounded threshold for the comparison; round amounts for display. £1.20 is a worked example, not a verified price for today or an earlier date.
