What does World Aid Network do?
The organisation’s main website describes partner-delivered medical care and disaster assistance in Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia. This website focuses on calculating Zakat and explaining common questions for UK donors. For current projects, delivery arrangements and appeals, use the World Aid Network website.
Medical care, voluntary relief donations and religious dues have different requirements. A worthwhile humanitarian project is not automatically an eligible destination for every kind of payment.
Registration and Gift Aid: check the current status
When checked on 8 September 2026, the parent website reported Charity Commission registration in progress, with application reference 5290505, and stated that Gift Aid was not yet available. An application reference is not a registered charity number. ICO registration ZC156579 concerns data protection and does not establish charity registration or Gift Aid eligibility.
Read the current registration statement. Gift Aid additionally requires HMRC recognition and the donor’s eligibility. This calculator site should not describe a future reclaim as money already available for administration.
Choosing between Zakat and Sadaqah
Zakat must reach eligible recipients under the applicable rules. Sadaqah is voluntary giving with a different scope. For medical assistance, ask how recipient eligibility, ownership or agency requirements and payment to a provider are handled. Poverty assessment alone is not a complete explanation of every fiqh requirement.
If you intend to pay fidya, kaffarah or Fitrana, confirm the required feeding and distribution arrangements. A generic medical donation does not automatically discharge those obligations.
Questions to ask a Muslim charity before donating
- What is the organisation’s legal identity and current registration status?
- Which programme will receive my donation, and can it accept Zakat?
- How are eligible recipients and any agency arrangements documented?
- What does the donation policy cover, including processing fees and administration?
- Are advertised costs estimates, contributions or complete funded treatments?
- What reports, complaints process and contact details are available?
These questions help you assess the specific organisation. A prominent “100%” claim or a search ranking does not answer them on its own.
